What is Moxibustion?
Based on The Emperor’s Inner Canon, it is recorded that if the acupuncture needle is not applicable, medicine is not fast enough, it must be moxibustion. Burning of dried Moxa leaves are used for stimulating circulation through the acupoints. It induces a smoother flow of blood and qi in order to treat various conditions associated with the “cold” or “yang deficiencies” in Chinese Medicine.
What to take note of in every session?
After each session, patients need to drink sufficient water to replenish the body fluid lost during the moxibustion treatment. It is also important to bear in mind of some cases where moxibustion if not recommended:
- Moxibustion should not be used on anyone diagnosed with excess “heat”.
- Women on period should not undergo moxibustion.
